Csaba Fürjesi – An evening of art and culinary delights

Experience a special evening of art in the Mesnerhaus with the renowned Hungarian-Austrian artist Csaba Fürjesi. At this exclusive vernissage, you will have the unique opportunity to meet the artist in person and learn first-hand about his fascinating works.

About the artist

Csaba Fürjesi (1969, Salgótarján, Hungary) is an internationally recognised contemporary artist who lives and works in Oberalm near Salzburg. In his multi-layered work – consisting of painting, photography, installations and graphic processes – he explores central questions of time, memory and human existence. He uses unusual materials such as old flour sacks, medical instruments or historical maps to make a subjective sense of time visually tangible.

His artistic career has taken him through major international cultural centres: After a formative study visit to Chicago (2000), he went on to Berlin (2009), California (2011), Dresden (2016), Rome (2018), Paris (2021) and Neumarkt am Raab (2023). In 2020, he was awarded the prestigious Slavi Soucek Prize of the State of Salzburg, combined with a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, which further strengthened his international presence.

Fürjesi’s artistic work has been honoured with numerous awards, including the Graphic Grand Prix (Miskolc, 2020), the Madách Art Prize (2013), the REÖK Prize of the Hungarian Painting Biennale (2012) and the Grand Prix of the Szekler’s International Graphic Biennale in Romania (2010). In 2023, he also received the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation Award.

His works have been presented in over 80 solo and group exhibitions – including at the Salzburger Kunstverein, the Kunsthalle Nexus in Saalfelden, the Ostrale in Dresden and the International Print Triennale in Krakow – and are now represented in important collections.
